Bhutan gets its first wind turbines
The country’s first pair of wind turbines, which will electrify 300 households, were inaugurated, today. Each wind turbine produces 300 kilowatt of energy, enough to power 150 households throughout.

Results for the Bhutan Higher Secondary Education Examination were declared, today. Tashi Wangchuk from Rangjung Higher Secondary School, with 88.25 percent, topped the Science Stream.
Second phase of LG elections to be held in June
The second phase of the second local government elections will be held in June, this year. Except for a few gewogs, almost all the local government elections in the 20 dzongkhags will be conducted during this phase.
Indian community celebrates Republic Day
As India celebrated its 67th Republic Day, today, the Indian community gathered at Indian embassy in the capital to celebrate the day. The celebration began with the hosting of the Indian flag, following which the Charge d’ Affaires, Bishwadip Dey, read out the President of India’s message to the gathering.
Customs’ Officials awarded meritorious certificates
Twenty One Customs Officials, from around the country, were awarded meritorious certificates for excellence in service during the celebration of International Customs Day in Samtse, today. International Customs Day is a globally observed today under the aegis of World Customs Organization. Bhutan is one of its 180 members.
Manufacturing companies express interest in Bondeyma Industrial Estate
Although still under development, a few manufacturing companies have expressed interest in establishing manufacturing units at the Bondeyma Industrial Estate, in Monggar. Currently, the first phases of development works are being carried out.
The new Thimphu Thrompon-elect is Kinlay Dorjee
Kinlay Dorjee is the new Thimphu Thrompon-elect. The lone contestant was re-elected after securing 2,107 ‘Yes’ votes and 150 ‘No’ votes. Of the 7,278 registered voters, 2130 came out to vote of which 97 percent cast votes in favour of Kinlay Dorjee.
Phuentshogling Thromde elects Uttar Kumar Rai
Uttar Kumar Rai is the new Thrompon-elect of Phuentshogling Thromde. He secured 248 ‘Yes’ votes and 239 ‘No’ votes. Of the 776 registered voters, 487 cast their votes.
Gelegphu gets Tikaram Kafley as the new Thrompon-elect
Tikaram Kafley secured 317 votes to become the new Thrompon-elect of Gelegphu Thromde. Of the 1,121 registered voters, 677 came out to vote.
Man detained for alleged sexual assault of a two-year-old
Thimphu Police have detained a 39-year-old man for alleged sexual assault of a two year-old female child, on Saturday, in Thimphu.
