Rescheduling of PHPA-I to cost government Nu 16 B

The government would lose a revenue amount of Nu 16 B on account of rescheduling of Punatshangchhu I hydropower project’s completion date from November 2016 to 2017, according to a Royal audit authority report.

140 percent increase in irregularities

Irregularities increased by more than 140 percent in 2014, as opposed to 2013, Royal Audit Authority’s findings say. In 2014, irregularities, amounting to more than Nu 630 M, were reported whereas in 2013 it amounted to Nu 261 M.

Wangchang Gewog’s people to appeal to parliament

People of Wangchang Gewog in Paro are planning to appeal to the Parliament on the Thromde demarcations for the Dzongkhag. According to the newly released demarcation map, Paro will be without Wangchang Gewog after three of its five chiwogs were demarcated to be under the Thromde.

Contractor terminated

The Department of Roads has terminated the contractor, who is doing the Bartsham-Reju Gewog connectivity road blacktopping works in Trashigang. The contractor was terminated for slow progress of work and shortage of manpower as per the contract agreement.

New home minister to be appointed

Bongo-Chapcha MP, Dawa Gyeltshen is to be the new home minister. The current home minister, Damcho Dorji is to be transferred to foreign ministry.
