The 15th Haa Moenlam Chhenmo presided over by His Holiness the Je Khenpo ended, yesterday. His Holiness also awarded the Tshewang to the people today. The weeklong Moenlam Chhenmo began from Tuesday last week. Thousands gather every year to offer prayers for the benefit of all sentient beings.

Flights to Bumthang cancelled

The National Airline Drukair has cancelled regular flights to Bumthang since the start of this month. Drukair’s domestic flight officials said due to monsoon season, the flights often get delayed and cannot take off subsequently.

Tokari Tshechu losing its appeal

Residents of Rangzhikhar, under Samkhar Gewog in Trashigang, organise a ritual for the well-being of women, every year. Locally known as Tokari Tshechu, the ritual is organised during the night coinciding with Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana.

His Majesty the King graced the closing ceremony of the third session of the second Parliament, today. Also present were the members of the Royal family and representatives from international organisations.

NC defers pay raise

The National Council decided its members will not accept the pay raise finalised by the National Assembly, at the moment.

CDB adopts Alternative Dispute Resolution

The Construction Development Board has adopted an Alternative Dispute Resolution for construction-related industry. The “out of court settlement“ was take up in order to relieve the courts from congestion as well as prevent the undue cost and delay of dispute resolutions.

Two men confesses to chorten vandalism

Two men from Lumang Gewog in Trashigang, who were detained in connection with the chorten vandalism case, have confessed to the crime. The two were involved in the vandalism of a chorten in Dori in Lumang Gewog back in 1996.

Night archery tournament is now in Wangdue Phodrang. The first open night archery tournament in Bajothang began this month. 21 teams from Wangdue, Punakha and Thimphu are taking part in the tournament. The tournament is being organized by a private individual.
