ACC investigates, affected households yet to receive insurance claims

Thousands of houses were damaged across the country by a massive earthquake in September 2011. More than two years on, some of the affected households are still waiting for their insurance claims while some received only part of what they are entitled to.

Samtse returns to normalcy

(Update): Life in Samtse has returned to normal after a windstorm on May 11 left a trail of destruction. Restoration works that began immediately are now complete. A total of 96 households were damaged by the windstorm.Out of it, roofs of 27 households were completely blown away while the rest were damaged partially.

Mother and two children killed in a house fire A 27-year-old woman along with her two children, 4 and 12, have died in a house fire in Trashi Yangtse. The deceased, a single parent, was living in a hut above the fuel station along with her children. The incident was reported to the police this morning at around 6:30am.

The National Council introduced the Attorney General Amendment Bill of Bhutan 2014 in the House, today. The Amendment bill has a new section which talks about the appointment of the Attorney General. The section outlines the authority and duties of the Attorney General. It also includes the authority to appoint the Deputy Attorney General.

Unusual sighting in Trongsa

It was an unusual sighting in Trongsa. A big vulture like bird was sighted for the first time. Residents have seen the bird in the area for the past two days and some are even skeptical about it fearing safety for their children and pets alike.
