Media and Advertisement need analysis: PM

The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, said there is a need to relook carefully on whether the purpose of advertisement is to finance the media houses. He was responding to one of the queries put by a Journalist, during Meet the Press session, this afternoon.

Special economic zone rouses economic optimism among locals

More than 730 acres of land have been identified at Jigmeling under Dekiling gewog in Sarpang Dzongkhag as a special economic zone. About 40 acres of private land were also acquired and compensated for accordingly.

Forest official accused of disturbing local deity’s “abode”

26 undergo successful cataract surgeries

A five-day eye camp in Samtse saw 26 patients have their vision repaired successfully. Most were cataract operations. A team of ophthalmologists from Thimphu led by a senior Eye Specialist were involved in the camp.

The Sha-Dhargey open archery tournament is taking place at Tikizampa in Wangdue Phodrang.  The tournament, although, played Yangphel style sees seven players in a team. The tournament is highly popular and attracts archers from all across the country. The tournament began on the 21st and will end in January. 48 teams are participating. Prizes for the winners include refrigerators and washing machines.

WTO: can Bhutan gain?

The debate on Bhutan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) has resurfaced after the recent WTO ministerial conference in Bali. Mobile Library Bus to start operating from January

Hundreds gather for Shrimadh Bhagwat Maha Puran
