First SABAH meeting held in Thimphu

The SAARC Business Association of Home Based Workers (SABAH) in Bhutan is holding its first annual meeting in the capital. At least 140 stakeholders from across the country are attending the four day meeting.

Sacred relics display in Trashigang

The sacred relics from Norway were put on display for public veneration from today in Trashigang. The relics are expected to be visited by people from Samdrup Jongkhar, Pema Gatshel and Trashi Yangtse as well.

Should Singye Dzong be connected with a road?

Singye Dzong, although one of the most sacred sites in the country, is also among the most isolated. It takes three days on foot to reach the site. Singye Dzong is not connected by road, and is not open to tourists.

The 8th Global Environment Facility south Asian constituency is underway in the capital. The two-day meeting began today. The meeting is aimed to set an agenda for the 45 Global Environment Facility council meeting in November. GEF has played a vital role in addressing the underlying drivers of environment degradation since seventh five year plan in Bhutan.  So far, GEF has supported around 45 million US dollars including 11th five year plan to support climate change and land conservation.

Cooling period- skills at rest

According to the Bhutan Civil Service Rules and Regulations 2012, the minimum three years “Cooling off Period” is required for former politicians, including members or party workers, for employment in civil service.

Several initiatives to encourage ICT

The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, said the government will put in several initiatives, to take stock of the effective use of internet services. He was speaking during the laugh of 4G services in Thimphu, yesterday.

Bhutan represented at 6th Asian Air Gun Championship

Chimi Rinzin and Pema Dorji accompanied by Coach Dorji Phurba are representing Bhutan at the 6th Asian Air Gun Championship in Tehran, Iran. The team has been in Tehran since October 16 and will be there till tomorrow.

Nation to observe the descending day of Buddha

It is Lhabab Duechen or the Descending Day of Lord Buddha, tomorrow. On this day, hundreds of Bhutanese visit Lhakhangs and Goendeys to offer prayers and butter lamps.

Auto-stripping decreases in Phuentshogling

Auto-stripping crimes in Phuentshogling are said to have decreased this year. About 37 auto-stripping cases were reported last year and 25 cases have been reported so far this year.
