His Majesty graces RIM’s 17th Convocation

The 17th Convocation of the Royal Institute of Management (RIM) was held in Thimphu, today. His Majesty the King and the Gyaltsuen graced the ceremony.

His Holiness inaugurates hospital equipment worth millions

His Holiness the Je Khenpo inaugurated additional life-saving equipment procured by the hospital, today. The procurement of the equipment was made possible with the donation of over Nu.13 million by His Holiness to the National Referral hospital in January, this year.

Two Dutch students donate bunk beds to monastic school

The monks of the Dechen Phodrang Monastic School will no longer have to sleep on the floor. The school received its first shipment of 50 bunk beds, yesterday, thanks to two Dutch students.

A two-storied house was completely gutted by a fire, last night, at Brokser in Saling Gewog under Mongar Dzongkhag.  No casualties were reported as the couple that had been living in the house was not in at the time of the fire. The wife told BBS that nothing could be salvaged from the fire. The fire is believed to have started from their traditional mud oven

A 10 –Year-old student in Paro died in Nimizampa near Rinpung Dzong yesterday.  The boy is believed to have been electrocuted. Sources say that the boy was electrocuted from electric wires located near the stream. The boy along with some friends had gone to drink Drubchhu. Police say the case is still under investigation.

A 28-year-old man was washed away by Daga Khola in Tashiding gewog under Dagana dzongkhag yesterday. The incident occurred at around 11 AM.

The victim, along with his brother, had gone to the river to collect sand. As the weather grew hot, the brothers had decided to take a dip when the incident happened.

The police, along with the villagers, are still searching for the body.

The Government launches Meet-the-People Program

The Government launched, “Meet-the-People”, one of their 100 day pledges in Thimphu, today.

1,614 University Graduates qualify for RCSE examination

The result of the Royal Civil Service preliminary examination was declared today. Of the 3,332 students who sat for the examination, 1,614 University Graduates have qualified to sit for the main exam. The main examination will begin from October 12.

Election process to elect a new Darla gup begins

The zomdus for the by-election of Darla Gup under Chhukha dzongkhag began yesterday. The by-election is being carried to fill the post rendered vacant after the former gup died in a car accident this month.
