Waste management to go private

The Thimphu City Corporation may have finally found a viable solution to the growing waste problem in the capital. It is working on an integrated sustainable solid waste management project. Under the project, the waste will be segregated to promote recycling and reusing of waste material.

Prank lands man in court

Thimphu police have forwarded the case concerning a man who reportedly spread rumours that the police were raiding media houses looking for tobacco products. Among others, he is also accused of telling his colleagues the police would be arresting those who are caught smoking or consuming other tobacco products during the raids.

Three men caught for drug possession

Trashigang police have apprehended three men for possession of drugs. The three men are 24, 25 and 30 years old. They were arrested last evening as they arrived in Trashigang from Samdrup Jongkhar.

Disease decimates cardamom

A disease is threatening to wipe out the cardamom production in Dungna Geog in Chhukha district, depriving the farmers of an important source of cash income.

An eye for an eye

There is good news for people with damaged cornea. The national referral hospital has not only been able to carry out cornea transplants, it can also transplant artificial cornea. Doctors at the hospital successfully transplanted an artificial cornea earlier this year.

Thimphu IT Park on track

The construction of the Information Technology Park, the Thimphu Tech Park, is on track. According to officials working for the project, about 50 percent of the construction works have been completed. The IT Park is expected to be operational by September this year.

Meat to cost more

It may be time to cut down meat items from the menu if you are residing in Thimphu. After repeated requests from meat vendors, the meat price has been increased from today.
