It is even rarer to find couples celebrating their 50th or 75th wedding anniversaries. A couple in Dagapela surprised the community this week when they marked their 75th wedding anniversary.

Kidnapped boy rescued

A 17-year-old Bhutanese boy, who went missing two months back from Gomtu has been found from Srinagar in Kashmir, India. The boy’s disappearance came to the notice of the father only after he received a call from his son about two weeks ago from India.

Special arrangements made for stranded people

Hundreds of travellers stranded in Phuentsholing bound for Samtse and vice versa are travelling via the Phuentsholing-Samtse internal highway due to a strike in West Bengal, India. It is still not clear when the strike will end. The strike was called by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) following clashes between the GJM supporters and Jalpaiguri police on Tuesday at Sibchu tea garden in Jailpaiguri.

Gelephu student tops class 10 examination

Diwas Puri from Gelephu Higher Secondary School topped the class 10 examinations with 94.60 percent. Tshering Dema of Samtse Higher Secondary School came second with 91.20 percent while F Mugil Arashi of Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School came third with 91 Percent.

New hospital for Haa

The location to construct a new hospital in Haa has been decided. It will be constructed at Kagarama in Ingo village under Katsho Geog. The Prime Minister Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y Thinley approved the location of the new hospital during the midterm review meeting held on Thursday, February 10.

100 acres of blue pine forest damaged

A forest fire at Kikila in Bumthang has damaged about 100 acres of blue pine forests including tseri land, which is land used for shifting cultivation.

Buddha Air to stop operation in Bhutan

Barely seven months after its operation, Buddha Air, the only international flight operating in Bhutan will stop all its flight in and out of the Kingdom from March 18.
