Toll free number to seek expert’s advice

In a move to improve its services to the farmers, the Research and Development Centre in Wengkhar under Monggar Dzongkhag has launched a toll free number. The number 204 can be dialed both from mobile phone and landline.

MoU for private sector development

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) and Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI) will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote exchange, cooperation and mutual understanding between the private sectors of the two countries.

Recent tax revision Constitutional: OAG

In the fourth and the final hearing, the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) representing the government argued that the recent tax revision is Constitutional. It argued that the Sales Tax, Customs and Excise Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2000 allows the government to revise and raise sale tax, customs and excise duty.

Digitalising Buddhist religious texts

The National Library and Archives of Bhutan is in the process of digitalising all the Buddhist religious texts. Over 9,800 volumes of Buddhist religious texts, some as old 70 years, are available online now both in Dzongkha and English. However, currently only the cover titles, subtitles, authors, margin titles can be viewed online.

Voter Education Programme receives poor response

The Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) has been conducting Voters’ Education Programme for the upcoming Local Government Election in the Four Class A Thromdes. However, the turn-out has been very poor.

UN day observed

The United Nations day is celebrated on October 24 every year. In Bhutan, the day was observed at the Tashichhodzong in Thimphu yesterday. One thousand butter lamps were lit to mark the day at the Kuenray.

New Police Division in Wangdue

In a move to help enhance service delivery to the people of Shar-Dhar-Gyed, the Royal Bhutan Police opened a new division in Wangduephodrang yesterday. The 12th Division was inaugurated by the Chief of Police, Brigadier Kipchu Namgyel and Wangdue Lam Neten.

Dungsam Chuchi oust TNCL to enter final

Dungsam Chuchi is through to the final of the 2nd Coronation Archery Tournament. In the second semi-final played yesterday, they defeated TNCL Construction in two straight sets.

Tencholing Army wing wins the Boxing title

The 12th Wing of the Royal Bhutan Army, Tencholing won the Annual Army Inter-Wing Boxing Tournament. The finals were played on Sunday at the Changlimithang stadium.

Wochu LSS bags the Taekwondo Championship title

Wochu Lower Secondary School bagged the highest number of medals in the open Taekwondo Championship under Paro Dzongkhag. The school won five gold, seven silver and eight bronze.  Drugyal Higher Secondary school stood second with seven gold, six silver and two bronze. Drugyal Lower Secondary bagged the third position with six gold, three silver and five bronze.
