His Holiness consecrates Dzomyue
"Dzomyue" or the equivalent of the third eye relic was embedded in the Buddha Statue in the capital today. The Dzomyue was consecrated by His Holiness the Je Khenpo.
D Bindu farm road damaged
The D Bindu farm raod in Tendu, Samtse that was handed over to the public barely a month ago is out of use. Landslides triggered by monsoon have damaged the newly constructed farm road.
Two killed and one injured in an accident
Two men were killed on the spot and one seriously injured in an accident at Ramtokto in Thimphu. The accident occurred at around 8 pm yesterday.
Truck plunges into Punatshangchu killing two
A driver and a handy boy were killed when the truck they were travelling in went off the road and plunged into the Punatshangchu river. The accident occurred at around 9:30 pm yesterday, five kilometres from Wangdue check post towards Tsirang.
H1N1 in Damphu
(UPDATE) Three students of Damphu Higher Secondary School in Tsirang have tested positive for H1N1. Samples collected from these students were sent to the National Public Health Laboratory in Thimphu for confirmation yesterday.
Flu outbreak, schools closed for a week
Hundreds of students from Damphu Lower Secondary School in Tsirang visited Damphu hospital today to undergo H1N1 test. Doctors said the students came out of fear, after three students of Damphu Higher Secondary School tested Influenza A positive.
4 detained in Monggar
Four men have been detained by the Monggar police for harvesting marijuana. They were caught red-handed at Murungdang under Shermung Geog in Monggar. The arrest was made following a tip-off.
No clear directives yet
The Election Commission is still waiting for directives from the Government to hold the Local Government Election. The recent parliament session resolved that the Election Commission should be able to go ahead with the election despite the issue of satellite towns unresolved.
Off-hour clinic still in the pipeline
The National Referral Hospital’s idea to start the off-hour clinic from May this year was ineffective. It has been three months now that the hospital could not start off with the idea.
A new music school in town
A new music school opened in capital on today. AA-Yang music school, the source of all sounds, will train both the traditional and western music.
