Sarpang court upholds Gelegphu court’s judgement on US visa scam case

Sarpang District Court upheld the Gelegphu Dungkhag Court’s judgement on a US visa scam case. The Gelegphu Dungkhag Court had sentenced a 23 -year-old man to six years and a 34-year-old woman to two years in prison in March this year for larceny by deception.

High Court upholds Lhuentse court’s judgement on tobacco smuggling case

The High Court today upheld the Lhuentse District Court’s judgement on a tobacco smuggling case involving three people.

DNA test to confirm alleged rape

Paro police are awaiting a DNA test report to confirm an alleged rape of a nun by two accused.  The test is being done in Kolkatta.

OAG received highest number of cases last year

The Phuentshogling Dungkhag Court has convicted nine men in a rape case involving a 13-year-old girl. The court passed its judgement on the case on Tuesday.
Of the nine, seven are drivers and one a non-Bhutanese.

OAG alters charges against mother charged in child death

The Office of the Attorney General has earlier charged the woman, who is accused of throwing her newborn from a third-floor hotel room window, with voluntary manslaughter and statutory rape.  

High Court acquits two in DeSuung embezzlement case

The High Court has acquitted an officer and a non-commissioned officer of the Royal Bhutan Army (RBA) in the DeSuung Fund Embezzlement case. 

Alleged bullying case reaches court

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has forwarded an alleged bullying case to the Thimphu District Court. Thimphu police took up the case after a video clip of a man bullying another went viral on Facebook and WeChat in June this year.
